Find out Why....

On Monday, April 19, I'm blogging over at Fierce Romance about why there are always animals in my books. Stop over and have a laugh, leave a comment, and read some other blogs while you're there! http://FierceRomance.blogspot.com/

If you're a horse lover like I am, you would enjoy two of the horse characters in Ojeria's Journey, which came out April 1st from Red Sage.

Also, the cover art is in a contest this week at Embrace the Shadows, so if you get a chance to vote for it, I'd appreciate it.

TV Cowboys of Old

I guess I didn't need to put 'of Old' in the title. There are no cowboys on television today. It's a shame. The networks would never want such hokey, old-fashioned programs when the viewing audience would rather watch reality TV or hi-tech crime shows like CSI. I understand that, although you will never catch me watching much reality TV. I follow American Idol because my fiancee likes it, and I admit I have gotten involved with The Amazing Race. Why am I interested in the Amazing Race this year?

Because Jet and Cord are on! They are the only cowboys on TV, and I root for them each week. Brothers from Oklahoma, they are Bullriders out trying to win the one million dollar prize. Not only are they in great physical shape, but they are honest, down to Earth competitors. These two look great in their Pro-Rodeo jeans and hats, they don't badmouth the other competetors, and I actually found myself saying "Good Gravy" the other day instead of swearing.

Geeze, they're a good influence! Just like the cowboys I grew up watching on Bonanza (did I have a crush on Michael Landon? - you betcha!), Wagon Train, Roy Rogers, the Cisco Kid, and of course, The Lone Ranger. These guys were all about the good guys winning, and besides, I loved their horses. I know, these story lines aren't politically correct, they are predictable, the Indians were played by white guys. Badly. What I'm saying is, it was a more innocent time, and I'm fortunate to have grown up in an era where television was more wholesome than it is today.

Once in a while, we get a western, or at least a horse movie, for fogeys like me to see. In the meantime, you can be sure that on Sunday nights, I'm wearing my Pro-Rodeo jeans and rooting for Jet and Cord on television.
